Horse Play! -- Crafty Weekends Review & Link Party

Be sure to check out my on-line Thirty-One Review & Party!! Get all your summer organizing essentials!! It ends this week!!
Disclosure: I was sent this book to review free of charge from Storey Publishing. All opinions in this post are my own. I did not receive any other compensation for this review. I am including links for your convenience but do not receive anything if you purchase from them.

Do you know a child that loves horses? Then you will love today's book or should I say she will. The book is Horse Play! by Deanna F. Cook and Katie Craig.

This book is full of activities, games, crafts and more all having to do with horses.

The book also has stickers, templates, a poster, and other punch outs horse things. They include door hangers and bookmarks plus things like party games and decorations for a horse themed party.

Hazel wanted to have a horse themed tea party, so we bought some strawberry cupcakes and made the cupcake toppers from the book. Then we made some horse shaped finger sandwiches and served ice tea in canning jars with straws decorated with the straw decorations from the book. We used some toy horses from Dollar Tree and Party City for decorations.

We did not try any of the games since it was just the two of us. I think we will plan a horse themed play date soon and try some of them out though! Next we tried a craft from the book. The book had adorable horse appliqued pillows. We decided to use a bag instead of a pillow (since we had some canvas bags waiting to decorate).

I also added a horn to make it a unicorn bag since Hazel likes unicorns even more than horses.
Now she has a bag to carry all of her toy horses and unicorns.

The next craft we want to make is the Barn-in-a-Box. The toy horses will work with it as well.

The book provides a tutorial as well as stickers to decorate the barn.

Hazel cannot wait to play with it. It was the first thing she wanted to make, but we haven't gotten to it yet. The book also has information about horses and a place to keep track of kinds of horses you see.
The only thing missing in this book is the horse to ride. Luckily Hazel recently went to a birthday party that had pony rides.
We are having so much fun with this book and this is definitely going to be our go to gift for Hazel's friends who like horses this year!
